Former Italian football player and 2006 FIFA World Player of the Year Fabio Cannavaro (R) shakes hands with Cambodia’s U-21 National Football Team during a coaching session at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh January 9, 2012. Cannavaro is in Cambodia on a three-day tour to raise the profile of football as sport, and to support disadvantaged children, according to the Phnom Penh Crown FC, the local football club that invited him.

Davy Armstrong

Davy Armstrong is the first Cambodian soccer player (he’s half Cambodian) in Major League Soccer. Got drafted a year ago by Colorado Rapids out of high school. His father Ri Armstrong was adopted from Cambodia in 1960’s and was actually a US Olympic skier. Here’s his interview.

Hiya,
I love this blog.  Here’s a video of the crowd doing the wave at the cambodia vs. thailand officials friendly soccer game the other day at Olympic stadium in phnom penh. The game was so much fun!

I’d like to take this time to give a brief shoutout to my cousin’s non-profit organization he’s starting, Cambodian American Soccer Association (CASA.)

Basically his goal is to have a program started for younger boys and girls who have an interest or love for soccer. In Cambodia, most kids play/walk around without any shoes. This past summer we have been able to donate old/used soccer cleats to those who REALLY need it. (pictures above) Not only that, but he’s also trying to have scholarships for boys and girls as well. This is to help encourage Khmer-American students who are still in high school to receive a higher education (go to college)

There’s a few soccer teams out there around our area and hopefully maybe one day, Cambodians can be noticed and participate in the Olympics or even the World Cup.

Dont these jerseys look AAAAAAAMAZING!?!?

hopefully soon we’ll have enough to sell! but they take a while to be made:/
